Who they are

Set Free Care has been caring for people in need in Southport since 1996. From their community hub on Rawlins Street they run free meals, showers and laundry, alongside a low cost op shop, and they connect people with agencies working on homelessness, mental health and employment.

They describe what they do as a hand up rather than a hand out, and the hub is open every weekday.

What we did

Across six separate deliveries we have sent Set Free Care 368 garments, more than any other partner on this page.

These are our imperfect tees. A print sitting two centimetres low, a mark on a sleeve, the ones we cannot sell and will not send to landfill. Set Free Care gave them their own corner of the op shop floor and named it the Selfawear Second Chance Rack, which is a better name than anything we would have come up with.

Why this one matters

A flawed print is still a good shirt. Keeping it out of a bin and putting it on somebody who needs it costs us nothing and is the easiest yes we give all year.
