Who they are

Serving Our People started in March 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, on a simple premise: deliver whatever is needed to whoever needs it. Families, older people, carers, people living with disability, people displaced by disaster.

They run a delivery and logistics arm alongside their own fundraising, including the SERVED not for profit cafes at Mermaid Beach and Pacific Fair, and People's Markets, which are free supermarkets stocked with staples. They have supported more than 55,000 recipients.

What we did

We donated 131 garments to Serving Our People, who are based a few minutes up the highway from us at Mermaid Beach.

They photographed the handover in front of the wall outside their base, the one that reads HELP IN ACTION. WE EXIST TO SERVE. It is a fair summary of how they work.

Why this one matters

SOP move things. Food, goods, and whatever else is needed, to whoever needs it, that week. Donating stock to an organisation whose whole competence is distribution means it reaches people faster than we could ever manage ourselves.
